How can I build a loving relationship that is true to who I am? No one is teaching me about love better than bell hooks, in her book All About Love (new visions) she creates a stunning portrayal of love as tender labour, as a resizing of all our relationships (romantic and not), she talks of love and community, friendship, family. Dismantling the layers that have been imposed on me by societal expectations around love is hard, I find myself often in a tug of war with patriarchal narratives, with expectations of myself and others that don’t match the truth. Something you have agency on, something you choose and work on.
